The Birth Stories or Jataka Tales and Boon Pawet

The ‘birth-stories’—of which there are 547—are tales told by the Buddha of his previous births as bird, animal, man. Pictured below is Wat Klang, in Kalasin Province, the window carving depicts scenes from the Jataka tales and as this is the year of the rabbit, the story of THE FOOLISH, TIMID RABBIT ONCE upon a time, a Rabbit was asleep under a palm-tree.
