Getting ready to head downriver to Ubon Ratchatani to pick up some Thai language Dhamma books from Wat Pa Nanachat and was checking my Ubon map and looking for other attractions, when I happened into the fiction and National Embarrassment that is the Tourism Authority of Thailand. You can go to their website titled Kanlueng Museum or Archeological Site at Wat Ban Kan Lueang, Ubon Ratchatani, Thailand to learn about the site. My photos are geotagged I spelled the wat name so that it can be found in Google Maps, or on my Ubon Map.

when coming from Suwannaphum, make sure to follow the signs, as there are no bridges over the river north of the site. The other thing is you can go to Ku Kona without returning from to the highway. Use my google map. “ It is another huge temple with Khmer-style architecture, comprising three prangs on the same laterite base, and rectangular library buildings in front. All of them are surrounded by a wall, with entrance pavilions known as Gopura at the four directions. Outside is a U-shaped moat surrounding the wall.” This write up appears everywhere and at best is misleading. As you can see in the video, at best it is bigger than some and smaller than many. Also there is no moat. This type error appears quite often in Tourism Authority of Thailand write ups. See the real thing live here.

I hopped the 0700 Sakon Nakhon to Mahasarakham express and arrived in Kalasin just as I was waking up.
Instead of going on to the station in Kalasin those going on t Roi-et debus at a spot in town where the Roi-et second-class air bus stops. we departed just befor 1000h on the 50 kilometer journey. These buses stop constantly to on and off load passengers and all in all it took and hour and a half to reach the roi-et terminal. It was a generally painless trip, especially relative to driving. And we arrived at the Roi=et station just before 1100 hours.

Wetsandon Chadok Park Roi-Et, The Vessantara Jataka tells the story of one of one of the Buddha’s Past lifes and is popular in Isaan. Unfortunately this park has not drawn the interst one would hope as the statues are falling apart and unfortunately the park not maintained. One way or the other the scenes are interesting and it is a shame it is not maintained.
