Foodporn at Long Phung, Vietnamese Restaurant, Pinellas Park, Florida

goi cuonokay this restaurant has the greatest assortment of Vietnamese food I have seen here in the States. Open the album take a look at the scanned menu pages that I’ve listed. The food is authentic Vietnamese. and although I have only been in there a few times I have not seen another Westerner, but the place is full of Vietnamese people from the moment it from the moment it opens. The staff is polite and prompt and the servings are more than adequate. If you are in the area and want to expand your Vietnamese food experience beyond pho this is the place to go.

Pho Queen, Vietnamese Restaurant, Clearwater, Florida, Revisit

pqyou can look at my first impression of the Pho Queen, Clearwater , their menu is there as well. Just follow the link.
I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, a bowl I have been revisiting at a number of Vietnemese places down in Pinellas Park, and area where the are bunches of Vietnemese folk to fill those establishments. Plenty of Thais and Laos also prefer the Vietnamese food to the stuff sold in the pseudo Thai places.

Dunedin, Florida, Downtown Market

imageThe Dunedin, Florida, Downtown Market takes place from 0900 to 1400 Fridays and Saturdays. The town’s  downtown area is shady and pleasant, unlike nearby Clearwater’s concrete and empty shops. Parking is free in Dunedin, once again unlike Clearwater, whete one must pay, in a town that should be encouraging visitors. there is a wide variety of products available, and shady places to sit and enjoy the music and a cold drink, or even a meal.

From Tom’s Desk, Visiting, Georgia, Alabama and Florida

imageFrom Daeng’s flight arriving, not only on time, but early the entire trip was quite restful. Except for the fact that I was both tour guide and interpetor. Not in the least demanding showing  her around parts of the 3 states was quite painless, but was, for sure, tiring.

And now it is time for me to start preparing for my return to Isaan

Lo and behold  the sign was out till later, a bit odd fotr a moon day. Anyhow of to the bilg Lao Wat, again found empty, but with a sign giving directions down to the pier in St. Pete, so off we went.

Foodporn, Pho Hanoi, Gainesville, Florida, Vietnamese, Restaurant

goi cuonafter overcooked shrimp, tasteless onion rings and lousy service at the Seabreeze Restaurant in Cedar Key, florida, and a tough morning drive, finding the Hanoi was a life saver. Cheerful, efficient staff, a fine bowl of Bun Bo Hue, Cafe Sua Da and a Goi Cuan  (Vietnamese Soft Spring Rolls- Shrimp and Pork Tofu, Grled Park or Chicken, Vermicelli Rice Noodles, Lettuce, and Cilantro wrapped in clear rice paper and served with Peanut Sauce), got me back to better than normal, whatever that might be….
