admin The crazy side of Songkran The best laid plans for Songkran don’t always pan out. I had planned to stay behind closed doors (other than going to the temple) for the 3 days of Songkran craziness, but family won out and I participated in the insanity. It was a matter of family and face that I attend the party at an Uncle’s house and then go out with everyone and go crazy during Songkran. If I hadn’t gone, lots of the family would have been pissed off. Anyhow, I went, and had a good time. We headed out to Uncle’s place at about 1230 and spent the next 2 hours eating and drinking and listening to music. Then it was time to mount up. We needed weapons, ammunition, and rations

admin The Khon Kaen House Gets Blessed Before We Move In Finally moved into the Khon Kaen house after about 8 months of construction. All credit for the house goes to my wife. She did a great job supervising the entire project. I was up at 0400, shower and coffee and then off to the new house at about 0500. A couple family members were already at the Khon Kaen house making sure that things were set up properly

admin If you are from Laos and you are hit by a Porsche and are the victim of a hit and run accident, you are worth $17,000. Last Friday there was a terrible accident in Pathum Thani – a 19-year old boy was driving his daddy’s Porsche and struck a 17-year old girl from Laos and cut her in half with her upper torso crashing through the windshield and landing in the passenger seat. Porsche Accident His father, the owner of the Porsche, stalled the police for a day or so saying that his son needed to attend a festival to honor the family’s ancestors. The teenager eventually showed up at the police station along with his crew in matching outfits and sunglasses. He is also wearing a hat with the slogan “In you, not on you”. Hopefully he doesn’t understand English well.

admin There was another horrific accident in Pathum Thani on Friday that killed a 17-year old Laotian girl. She was actually sliced in half by a speeding Porsche with her upper torso winding up crashing through the windshield and landing in the front passenger seat. Pathum Thani Porsche Accident Apologies for being so graphic, but there is no other way. To top it off, the driver continued for about 10 kilometers and then abandoned the Porsche and caught a taxi
