On the left Ajahn Thate a senior disciple of Ajahn Mun. His was the 1st funeral I attended in Thailand in January of 1996 at Wat Hin Mahk Paeng in Nong Khai Province,a time well before cell phones and digital cameras. A time when manners were not so rare in Thailand.
It is that time of year that has all sorts of implications. It is the first lunar month on the Buddhist calendar and the last on the Christian calendar.  The 5th of December marks the 85th birthday of Bhumibol Adulyadej Rama IX, the king of Thailand. I will observe the event by going to my local parish Wat Pa Klanf Nong Phu in Phanna Nikkom, Sakon Nakhon, Thailand.
Next week it is off to Khon Kaen to visit some friend there to include visiting friends from Canada. Hopefully the new Samsung Galaxy Camera will be in my hands by then and well into the test drive state.

I am trying to sort out plans for next year, but at the moment decisions seem beyond me. That seems to point to a week in the Monastery to force myself to get a bit of a mindful handle on things Sometimes trying to accomplish something is the worst way to accomplish anything.

Whatever holiday you choose to observe I wish you the best and as always more views and opinions from North East Thailand, Isaan and beyond still to come. Does anyone have any plans for 1212h on 12.12.12.

Tom
