Antiques and Artifacts Old and Not So Old in Udon Thani,Thailand

lek charoen hailai reads the sign in Thai, using Isaan dialect words, which won’t make much difference to you. You can find the location by looking at the album in Picasa or by going to my Udon Thani Map.It is one of those places that has just what you have been looking for or is of no interest whatsoever. Anything wooden in Thailand is valuable to some degree and they have quite a collection on site. Old, all things being relative pottery, pottery and TVs are available. I enjoyed an hours browse around the grounds. Don’t be shy nothing seems off limits and everything seems to have a price, some posted some not. I saw a person come in and buy some pots for her shop, so this place seems to be a bit of a wholesaler selling to merchants and those in the know. The price he quoted her was about half of what I had seen the same pots sold for in the region, so if you are into tsome serious buying this might be the place to shop…
I have not found where the Ban Chiang style pottery is made and that is something I will investigate as soon as I am back that way. None has been made at any of the many pottery sites I have visited
